Landmine detection could improve with drones and machine learning, say Binghamton University researchers


Hidden landmines are among the tragic legacies of armed conflicts around the world, continuing to kill and maim people years after the cessation of hostilities. Aerial drones can collect data to be analyzed with machine learning to detect the dangerous “butterfly” landmine in remote regions of post-conflict countries, said researchers at Binghamton University, State University at New York.
